3D Game Benchmark: Test the Speed of Your Device in a Game Engine
3D Game Benchmark is an interactive utility designed to test the speed of your iPhone device by simulating a game engine. This benchmark tool provides real-time FPS (frames per second) measurements while displaying scenes with high triangle and pixel shader complexity.
With 3D Game Benchmark, you can fully control the camera movement and interact with the level using a twin joystick control scheme. The left joystick allows you to move, while the right joystick enables you to aim the camera.
Under the hood, the benchmark engine utilizes OpenGL to render scenes and characters from the game Heavy Blade. Each scene employs forward rendering with additive lighting, utilizing 4 dynamic lights with shadow maps, per pixel specular, and normal lighting.
The app offers 6 different scenes to test your device's performance. These scenes vary in complexity, ranging from basic scenes with 4 characters and 4 lights to extreme scenes with 64 characters and 4 lights. Additionally, there are 3 actual game levels where you can freely move the camera around and inspect the surroundings.
